Unfortunately conscious ‘festivals’ are been becoming increasingly hard to run over these last years.

In the past most festival expenses were covered by ticket sales and then everything else would be covered by alcohol sales. Obviously this is not the case with alcohol-free events. I have run this gathering for 6 years now and every year, I truly reflect ‘can I really do another year?’ Due to the extreme unending stress behind the scenes. 

Because these are not just ‘festivals’…they are Templates - Templates birthing a new yet ancient way of being together…

One is holding, anchoring and re-wiring something much bigger on an energetic level and then also having to organise all the crazy logistical/practical things and crazy expenses on the ground too. The thing with festivals is you never know how many tickets you will actually sell as more and more people are buying last minute, due to the current climate, which makes it even more unstable. For example, we actually sold 50% of our tickets on the day that the Summit started last year! 

But this year it is worst than ever and I know, now working behind the scenes of so many festivals, that EVERY SINGLE festival has been affected. 

The rising costs of ALL infrastructure and expenses. Medicine Festival speaks about this and it rising by 30%. It is very true - some of our costs actually doubled this year, from 2 years ago. Yet still trying to keep tickets low and accessible (I am always trying to help sisters who want to come - this is not meant to be just for the ‘privileged’ few and more women have messaged us than ever struggling financially and needing ‘support’ tickets this year). Yet also never knowing how many tickets you will sell until the day to break even.

There are no ‘hidden costs’. I have been able to take £1000 this year and that is working every day - most days for 14-15 hours, for the lats 9 months. It’s crazy - as one team member pointed out - we are all ‘volunteers’ supporting this vision into form. Yet people may not know this and why this needs to be spoken about way more widely. 

This year, for the Heart of the Rose closing ceremony I had a very clear vision to invite all female festival organisers to share on stage their own experience of the deep imbalance + insecurity of festivals, because I know very deeply we are all feeling it. Yet ironically 3 were too ‘burnt-out’ from their own festivals to come. Each of us believing so deeply in the importance of the visions we have been shown + the deep need for these conscious gatherings yet somehow still struggling to bring them through in a balanced way (and I know why many of us are now doing our gatherings ‘every-other year’ now + how some have shut down completely!) 

This is not just me, this is every festival organiser I meet. Something needs to change and we will find this change together - moving from a consumerist mindset of ‘what can I get’ mindset to ‘what can I give’ and more shared creation and ownership…

Unfortunately after working so deeply hard this year, we didn’t sell as many tickets as 2 years ago. We still had nearly 500 incredible women but unfortunately just under what we had before. Despite a bigger team, despite more marketing, despite more people knowing about it and I know this is not a reflection of the beauty of the gathering and that this has unfortunately happened with EVERY other conscious festival this year. 

This means I now have to somehow make £10,000 in the next 2 weeks to pay towards the necessary expenses for this year (e.g. first air, security, electricity, crew food and more) and I am reaching out to the wider community and those sisters and brothers who have hopefully received so much, so I no longer have to hold this weight alone. I believe in the collective field, I believe in the hive mind, I believe these gatherings are literally changing the energetic structure of the world we live. I believe in their importance and personally I believe so much in Heart of the Rose and the importance of this rose medicine as one profoundly powerful + needed path of the heart for humanity at this time.

I would love for this vision to keep blossoming - I know it is needed. I know how important it is. I have received such profound life-changing feedback from so many women that have come to it over these last 6 years and now from the brothers this year too! 

But my team and I need your help! 

Yesterday I was reminded of a friend a few weeks ago - who had £200 stolen, her partner then went around all our friends and asked if they would be wiling to donate just £10 each - within half an hour she made back the money. 

It is vulnerable to share this and I think why most festivals don’t but we have to share, nothing has gone wrong - the system is wrong! 

And I’m grateful (on some level) for this experience, as there seems a much higher reason why this has happened, as it is so important that all conscious festival organisers start to bring awareness to the instability of running these events and we start to change the narrative and truly find a new more collaborative way together.

This is not about individuals or very small teams putting on a gathering and having sole responsibility on all levels for everyone to just come and receive over a weekend and then go back home to our every-day life. Yes there may be a few who’s soul may have contracted to help bring these gatherings into form but ultimately it is not about them having sole responsibility carrying the weight of it forward but more about co-weaving, co-creating and moving it forward as a collective.

For these gatherings are so much more. They are literally co-created global prayers, creating long-term communities + long-term visions that will literally change the fabric of the world in their area and beyond. I know the Guidance for Heart of the Rose has always been that this gathering is just ‘one small petal’ in a massive long-term vision of a very large permanent heart-centred community, mystery school, retreat centre, and so much more on this land. So we no long just come to these gatherings and just receive and then ‘go back to our lives’ but instead we experience a new yet ancient way of being together and then we start to stabilise + co-create this Template more and more permanently + long-term together ‘in’ our lives.
