‘The Art of Birth Stories’
Join us for a gentle, creative exploration of birth stories through art, reflection and shared experience.
In this session, you'll be invited to engage in simple creative practices to explore the stories we carry about birth, whether our own experiences, those of our families, or the wider cultural stories that have shaped us.
The Birth Stories Project is part of a growing movement to bring birth stories into the light. We believe that when stories are witnessed, honoured and shared, they can become a source of healing, understanding and change.
You are welcome whether your experience of birth was positive, challenging, transformative, or whether you are simply curious about the power of birth stories. No artistic experience is needed, just a willingness to explore in a supportive and compassionate space.

About Sarah
Sarah Slaughter's favourite subject matter revolves around Motherhood. As a mother of two young children, the process of pregnancy, birthing and bonding with a child is depicted in many of her paintings. She sees this as a healing process for her birth journeys.
Both Sarah’s planned home births resulted in medical emergencies and since then, the urge to paint about pregnancy and birth have become the focus of her art. Sarah is passionate about supporting maternal mental health and well-being and her art gives her the opportunity open conversations around these matters with other Mothers.
Along with her art prints and originals, Sarah offers pregnancy and birth commissions, placenta art and runs workshops supporting Mothers working through their birth journeys. Sarah’s Art can be seen via Facebook or Instagram at ‘The Art of Sarah Slaughter’.
About Louise
Louise-Marlena Tarrier is a storyteller, community weaver, and Director of the Sacred Birth Centre in Glastonbury. Her work explores the stories that shape our lives, from birth and motherhood to belonging, leadership and cultural change.
As the lead for the Birth Stories Project, Louise is passionate about creating spaces where birth experiences can be witnessed, honoured and shared. She believes that every birth story matters and that by bringing these stories into the light, we can foster healing, challenge silence and contribute to a more compassionate maternity system.
Drawing on her background in transpersonal psychology, creative facilitation and community building, Louise invites people into conversations that are both deeply personal and connected to wider social change. Her approach is warm, inclusive and grounded in the belief that stories have the power to transform individuals, communities and culture.
